Usually heard around the corner laughing before you can even see him, Gavin Maguda is a musician, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who releases music for his solo project every Friday the 13th. Greatly influenced by a wide variety of acts from The Beatles to Muse or Radiohead to Lauren Hill, he is able to create music in many different styles and genres. This blending of vast influences creates a style that shows through in every project that he is a part of.
Gavin began his life in music when his parents signed him up for piano lessons at the young age of four. He was hooked immediately and devoted most of his time to learning piano amongst many other instruments that he would pick up along the way including guitar, saxophone, and drums Gavin is currently attending SUNY Purchase for Studio Production where he has studied with many successful mixing engineers and producers including Peter Denenberg (Spin Doctors producer) and Silas Brown (Grammy-winning producer and mastering engineer). While at Purchase, he assisted on sessions with Pete Malinverni, Lydia Adelle Brown, and the PBS All-Star Orchestra as well as many on campus bands. He has also released two full albums as well as several EPs in his solo career under his own name.
The music goes on and Gavin will continue to release new music on every Friday the 13th. He is also working as a studio technician at Lagond Music School in Elmsford, NY as he finishes his education at SUNY Purchase and prepares to work as a professional musician in New York City.
